Building Contractor

General Contractor

A general contractor is an individual, firm, corporation, or partnership who performs work where a building or demolition permit is required and is regulated by code, on a building or structure, other than a one or two family residence or residential accessory building or structure. They shall be registered with the City as a building contractor.

New Residential Contractor

A new residential contractor is an individual, firm, corporation, or partnership who builds a new one or two family residence, for which a building permit is required and is regulated by code. They shall register with the State and shall also register with the City as a new residential contractor.

Residential Addition or Remodeling Contractor

A residential addition or remodeling contractor is an individual, firm, corporation, or partnership who performs alterations, repairs and additions on a one or two family dwellings, multiple single family dwellings (townhouses) not more than three stories above grade and any associated accessory structures regulated by the International Residential Code shall register with the City.

Items Required for Registration

• $90 annual fee 
• $15 technology fee
• $20,000 Surety Bond made payable to the City of Canyon (for additions and remodels only)
• City Registration Form
